On Wearing High Heels....and other bitchery
So the novelty of wearing high heel shoes wore off after about three hours of choreographing in them when my toes and the balls of my feet were screaming in pain. I am doing the old woman shuffle today. But the Cagelles look great and are picking everything up quite nicely.
I guess I should be worried when people tell me my legs look damn good in heels and I move very well in them. I am flattered nonetheless. Means I am doing my job right.
For those unaware, I am choreographing and in a production of La Cage Aux Folles. I am not pursuing a career in drag.
Teaching is going well. I love my USF classes. Such bright and interesting students. Had a GREAT discussion about visual rhetoric and censorship this morning. My SPC class is interesting, although I have my first "annoying" student since I started teaching. The kind that the rest of class shows their audible contempt for whenever he or she speaks. I also want to kill her as she asks stupid questions ALL the time.
My UT classes on the other hand are a handful. Just a collection of rich and spoiled kids who have chips on their shoulders. In the 5 classes I have had with them I have been able to ellicit a total of ZERO laughs, chuckles, sniggers, or contributions of ANY kind to discussions. I truly do not look forward to going there. This is my whoring job now.
Oklahoma rehearsals are also going well. Quick learners, but some are dimwitted. Should be a good show.
I hear Forum is moving along quite disastorously, but I shall judge for myself tomorrow night at dress rehearsal.
I miss Laurie and must see her soon before the peanut comes exploding from her stomach. Don't hate me Laurie. How does this weekend sound?
People with nothing going on in their lives who constantly feel the need to whine and bitch and moan about nothing annoy me on a even larger scale now. Add to that friends who consistently show themselves to be less than deserving of ANY kind of human contact or caring as they have proved themselves to be heartless shells of the weakest mineral.
I have a NY trip coming up during which I want to see some shows, but more importantly, interview with some colleges. Two of the ones I really want to work for are hiring. Go me. Everything else about the trip has me in a state of apprenhension.
And now...I go tocorrupt teach the minds of America.
